Hey Honey How 'Bout It

(Jenrose And The Kentucky Bootleggers)
How to propose to a woman: Take a fortune cookie, steam it open, take out the fortune and replace it with 1) the ring, and 2) a slip of paper that reads "Hey honey, how bout it?" (Needless to say, she said yes...)
When they first met, it was a Friday night
Down at Uncle Pleasant’s bar
A couple bottles of beer, it was Disappear Fear
Never thought that it would go too far

But he went home that night and try as he might
Well he just couldn’t get her off his mind
So he racked down her number from
One Mr. Johnny Ballantine

(He called her up and said)

Hey honey how bout it
Would you like to go
Hey honey how bout it
To the picture show
And we could take it slow…

Well before they knew what happened
Three years had passed them by
They once split up about a week or two
Although they really couldn’t tell you why

The night he popped the question
They were traveling with a big string band
And much to his good fortune
He agreed to take his hand

(Here’s how he asked her)

Hey honey how bout it
Won’t you please be mine
Hey honey how bout it
Until the end of time

Now you might think that the end of time
Is miles on down the line
It seems so far away when you’re still young
And you might think forever
Is such a long long time
Til you turn around and it’s gone…

And now it’s late at night
The stars are bright
The kids are all in bed
He says I’ve got this shoulder
Where you can rest your weary head

If you pull up some blankets
Then I’ll tend to the fire
And we can steal one quiet moment
Before we both retire…

(And she said)

Hey honey how bout it
Hug and squeeze me tight
Hey honey how bout it
By the fire light

Hey honey how bout it
Say that you’ll be mine
Hey honey how bout it
Until the end of time
And I’ll be doin’ fine…
